Mississippi Hub
Mississippi Hub is an underground salt dome storage facility under construction at the Bond Salt Dome in Simpson County, Miss. The facility is being developed in close proximity to major interstate pipelines and pipeline expansion projects that access major downstream natural gas markets. The facility’s location will also allow access to traditional gas supplies in the Gulf of Mexico and along the Gulf Coast, as well as emerging shale gas production and imported LNG.
The facility is permitted for two storage caverns holding up to 12 billion cubic feet (Bcf)
of working gas. The first of the two caverns is being designed to provide 7.5 Bcf of high-deliverability working gas capacity, with gas storage service expected to begin in 2010. Planned pipeline interconnections include SoNat, SESH and Transco. Expansion of the facility beyond the initially permitted capacity will be evaluated and constructed based
on market demand.
