Sempra Pipelines & Storage has a 43-percent interest
in two Argentine natural gas utility-holding companies, Sodigas
Pampeana S.A. and Sodigas Sur S.A. The Sodigas companies control
Camuzzi Gas Pampeana S.A. and Camuzzi Gas del Sur S.A., which
are jointly the largest natural gas distributor in Argentina
in volume, providing gas to about 45 percent of the country
in two neighboring regions. They supply gas to 1.5 million
customers, more than 28 percent of the overall demand, through
a gas transportation-and-distribution pipeline system.
Camuzzi Gas Pampeana (CGP) serves most of the province of
Buenos Aires (not counting the city of Buenos Aires and greater
Buenos Aires) and the province of La Pampa, which includes
key industrial and residential areas. This area includes about
1,400,000 homes, 60 percent of which are supplied by CGP.
This company operates a 3,500-kilometer pipeline network and
a 17,600-kilometer distribution network.
Camuzzi Gas del Sur S.A. (CGS) provides natural gas to the
southernmost area of the province of Buenos Aires and Patagonia
provinces, Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa
Cruz and Tierra del Fuego, a region that hosts key centers
for energy generation and hydrocarbon production. This area
includes about 500,000 homes, 80 percent of which are supplied
by CGS. The company operates a 2,500-kilometer pipeline network
and a 9,500-kilometer distribution network.
